What
advantages are there in registering with the portal?
Registration is necessary in order to be activated in open events
and for all courses created for companies, universities and business
schools. To register, simply fill in the registration form and provide
the information requested.
Do I need to pay to register with the
portal?
Registration with the portal is absolutely free. Payment is required,
instead, for participation in courses and events. Registration for
simulations can be either individual or in groups. The registration
cost for an event or course in partnership is indicated in the descriptive
outline.
Is there a newsletter for users registered
with the portal?
There is no scheduled newsletter, however the news on the
website’s home page are updated regularly and highlight new
events, the availability of new simulations, as well as news linked
to the use of the portal.
How do I participate in a game?
To participate in a business game on-line, register in an
event among those proposed by the website, or put in a specific
request to activate a personalised simulation according to procedures
to be agreed upon.
Can I participate in more than one game
simultaneously?
There are no limitations as to the number of games you can participate
in. However we recommend not participating in several simulations
simultaneously, even though this is technically possible.
What is the difference between a course
and an event?
Events are applications for established simulations in which
users registered with the portal have a chance to put themselves
to the test. Events have preset times and goals, and are presented
on all existing models at regular intervals. Courses are instead
training activities to be modelled using, at will, remote and “in-site”
segments (in class or in conventions), proposed to companies, business
schools, organisms, groups of managers.
If I participate in an event, will I be
assisted by an outside support?
Events provide technical and content support. From a technical
viewpoint, the support provides the necessary information towards
using the system (materials, virtual environments, manuals, support
documents, introductory demos) as effectively as possible. As for
content, the goal of the simulation is not limited to merely achieving
a positive result for the virtual company, but strives for the acquisition/refinement
of know-how and processes specific to each simulation.
How do I know I’ve been activated
on a business game?
After having sent in your registration form, the System Administrator
will send back a confirmation e-mail providing information on the
simulation, the game code, access procedures and access times. What
is a business game’s game code?
When confirmation is received that a business game has been activated,
the “Game code” is also provided, i.e. details on
the operating scenario in which the participant/team enter from
the page of active game codes.
How do I pay to participate in a game?
To pay for registration in an event, send a bank transfer to Management
Utilities, registering personally or as team leader, in this latter
case paying for the entire team composed of a maximum of 5 participants.
Do I need to install anything on my
PC?
What’s required of your PC is simply internet access and
the use of a browser to view web pages. We recommend having Microsoft
Office XP and Acrobat Reader installed to view attached documents
such as Excel spreadsheets, slideshows in Power Point, and files
in pdf format.
Can I play with people I know?
Certainly. Every team can be composed of 1 to 5 players; that
is, up to five personalised accesses can be activated (with e-mail
addresses). The request is entered in the entry form for each
event.
Can I play alone?
Yes. It isn’t necessary to be a team in order to participate
in a simulation. However, individual accesses are more expensive
than team accesses.
Can I choose my opponents?
It’s possible to specifically request activation
in a scenario in which other teams have also decided to play,
and with which you have agreed to a direct challenge.
Can I play against the computer?
Generally speaking, in interactive business games (i.e.
comprising several companies present in the same market), competing
firms are managed by as many registered teams. In some special
cases, the presence of virtual competitors managed by a computer
is foreseen. In non-interactive simulations (single player models)
the player challenges the model directly, since only a distance
confrontation is possible.
